About

Ollie Brown is an Australian musician, record producer, songwriter, mixing engineer, and recording engineer based in Los Angeles. Over the years, Ollie has worked with Grammy-nominated producers such as Paul Butler (Michael Kiwanuka, Andrew Bird), Gianluca Buccellati (Arlo Parks, Lana Del Rey), Jennifer Decilveo (Hozier, Miley Cyrus), Tone Def (Beck), and award-winning Australian producers Tony Buchen and Sean Carey.

Ollie has collaborated with a diverse range of artists across multiple genres, including Cold War Kids, Declan McKenna, Skegss, Rayland Baxter, White China, Felly, Sister, Mackeson, E.J. Worland, Hazel English, Julia Stone (Angus & Julia Stone), Benjamin Jaffe, Emma Louise, Isabella Manfredi (The Preatures), Charley, and James Reyne (Australian Crawl), among many others.

In 2024, Ollie’s work with Declan McKenna on his critically acclaimed third album What Happened to the Beach? received significant recognition, with BBC naming it the ‘Hottest Record.’ The album charted at Number 1 in Scotland and Number 3 in the UK. Additionally, Skegss' album Pacific Highway Music was featured as Triple J’s ‘Feature Album of the Week,’ with two tracks—“Out of My Head” and “High Beaming”—making Triple J’s Hottest 200 in 2024.

In 2022, Ollie co-wrote “This Time” with OAM recipient and ARIA-nominated Australian musician James Reyne (Australian Crawl) for Reyne's twelfth studio album, Toon Town Lullaby. He also recorded Australia's Eurovision 2022 contender Charley for her track "I Suck at Being Lonely."

Drawing on his classical training and multi-instrumental skills, Ollie is building a reputation for his modern-classic approach to production, blending his love for the compositional styles and production techniques of the 60s and 70s with a modern edge and psychedelic grit. His work often involves recording musicians live together in a room, fostering a raw, authentic connection to the song’s arrangement while guiding artists through new and alternative sonic landscapes.

As a singer-songwriter, Ollie has released three EPs, performed at Byron Bay Bluesfest, and toured internationally, sharing stages with artists such as The Beach Boys, Michael Bublé, Ron Sexsmith, Bic Runga, and David Ryan Harris. In 2011, he won a national competition run by ARIA, securing a $20,000 recording prize. Later, he pivoted to focus entirely on recording, production, and co-writing, removing his original music catalog from streaming platforms to pursue a new creative direction.
